Job description

We welcome applications from substantive Detective Sergeants for the role of Detective Sergeant within CTPSE Investigations. On this occasion we are seeking to recruit three Detective Sergeants.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Counter Terrorism Policing South East and play a key role in protecting communities across the South East and beyond. As a Detective Sergeant within the Investigations Team, you will supervise the delivery of complex and sensitive investigations, supporting the management of threat, risk and harm whilst ensuring investigative excellence and safeguarding the public.

Working within a highly specialised environment, you will provide leadership and guidance to investigators, oversee investigative strategies, and ensure that enquiries are conducted effectively, ethically and in line with national standards. You will be responsible for supporting, developing and motivating staff, fostering an inclusive culture and encouraging high performance across the team.

We are seeking experienced Sergeants with excellent communication and leadership skills, a proven ability to manage competing demands, and experience of building and maintaining effective relationships with both internal and external partners. You should be confident in making operational decisions, managing risk, and supervising complex investigations.

Applicants should be PIP Level 2 accredited or working towards accreditation, with experience of conducting and supervising serious and complex investigations. Experience in Counter Terrorism, Major Crime, Serious Organised Crime, safeguarding, covert policing or other specialist investigative disciplines would be advantageous.

Please note that this role forms part of a national, regional and local policing network and, as such, you may be required to travel for business purposes across the South East region and occasionally throughout the UK. Therefore, the successful candidates will require a full UK driving licence.

You may also be required to participate in on-call arrangements to support operational requirements across the South East and beyond.

Vetting

Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary for the successful candidate to obtain and maintain vetting level DV together with a number of enhanced security checks.

In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past ten years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad. Please be aware that if successful there are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries once in post

You can find more information about security vetting here.
