Job summary

Talent Smart is recruiting a Detection Engineer for a leading bank. The role is a 6-month contract with 1-2 days onsite in London or Sheffield, paying £600 per day via umbrella and Inside IR35.

You will join a global security team focusing on defensive security, threat hunting, and high-quality detections, with work across the UK, Poland and Mexico in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience in technology operations, development or security.
• Hands-on experience writing and developing security detections.
• Strong understanding of threat hunting and defensive security.
• Experience with threat intelligence and translating intelligence into detections.
• Experience in a large financial services organisation or regulated environment.
• Comfortable working in an Agile/Scrum delivery environment.
• Curious, technically minded and keen to investigate attacker techniques.

Responsibilities

We're working with a leading bank to appoint Detection Engineers to join a growing internal defensive security team.

The team is expanding its dedicated detection capability, moving from detection engineering being a secondary responsibility within the Cloud function to a specialist, full-time discipline. You'll work as part of a global team across the UK, Poland and Mexico.

The role is focused entirely on defensive security and threat hunting, with an emphasis on building high-quality detections rather than simply increasing volume.
