Detached Youth Support Worker (CRE)

The Youth Service sits in our Early Help Directorate and works across Kingston and Richmond. The YouthService provides support, information, advice, guidance and activities to support the social, physical,intellectual, creative and emotional development of young people aged 8 - 19 years old (up to 24 withadditional needs). The Youth Service is an open-door universal service, which also delivers targetedinterventions, using Youth Work, befriending/mentoring and activities as a means to build long lastingpositive and supportive relationships which support the best possible outcomes for young people.

The salary displayed will be pro rata as it is showing the full time equivalent.

This is a 12 months fixed term position.

  • About the role

    The Youth Support Worker will be required to:

  • Work locally within the Cambridge Road Estate (CRE) catchment area
  • Provide support, advice and guidance to young people aged 8 - 19 years old (up to 25 with additional needs)
  • Plan, deliver & evaluate positive, developmental and diversionary activities & interventions
  • Lead on developing new and exciting opportunities for young people within the (CRE) catchment area
  • Work in partnership with local stakeholders including but not limited to local council, redevelopment team, community safety, schools & more
  • Promote youth voice through regular engagement & reestablishing the CYC (Cambridge road Youth Consultants)
  • Work flexibly within the 18 hour contract including regular evenings and weekends

    About you

    We are looking for an enthusiastic, self motivated & flexible individual who is passionate about wanting to help and support young people on their journey to adulthood.

    You will be based within the Kingston Youth Service team, while focusing on engagement within the Cambridge Road Estate (CRE) community.

    Life skills and experience are just as important as work experience for this role, as you may wish to utilise your sporting, artistic, cooking or musical skills or perhaps your communication or motivational skills to engage with young people and be a positive influence on their lives.
