We are looking for a dependable and safety-conscious Despatch/Warehouse Operative to support our manufacturing logistics operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a hands-on environment, takes pride in maintaining order and accuracy, and understands the importance of timely and safe material handling in a chemical manufacturing setting.

You will be a key part of the Warehouse team, ensuring that raw materials, packaging, and finished goods are stored, handled, and moved efficiently and safely.

What will you be doing?
  • Receive and inspect goods: Unload deliveries, check materials against documentation, and report discrepancies.
  • Store materials safely: Organise and label inventory in accordance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Pick and prepare orders: Accurately select and prepare materials for production or shipment, ensuring correct documentation. Collaborate with the Logistics team to aid the smooth movement of inbound and outbound freight.
  • Operate equipment: Safely use forklifts, pallet trucks, and other warehouse machinery (training provided if required). Ensure these are checked and signed off before each shift commences.
  • Maintain inventory records: Use warehouse management systems (WMS) to track stock movements and update records. Assist with stocktaking activities.
  • Support production logistics: Ensure timely delivery of materials to manufacturing areas and assist with internal transfers.
  • Follow safety protocols: Adhere to chemical handling procedures, PPE requirements, and site safety rules.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency, layout, and processes.

What competencies will you need?
  • Warehouse Operations Knowledge: Experience in goods receipt, storage, picking, and dispatch in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Material Handling Skills: Ability to safely move and handle materials, including hazardous substances (training provided).
  • Equipment Operation: Forklift license preferred; experience with other warehouse equipment is a plus.
  • Inventory Management: Familiarity with stock control systems and basic IT skills (e.g., scanning, data entry).
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy in documentation, labeling, and order preparation.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Understanding of chemical safety, COSHH, and environmental compliance is beneficial.
  • Communication Skills: Able to follow instructions and communicate clearly with team members and supervisors.

In this role, you shall be performing manual tasks, including lifting, moving, and standing for extended periods.

Working Pattern and Hours

40 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 7.15 am to 4.30 pm with 30 minutes lunch break, and Friday 7.15 am to 12.15 pm
