Job description

Despatch Operative Job Description

As a Despatch Operative, you will provide a professional, safe, and efficient service to ensure the correct receipt, handling, and distribution of daily sales orders to meet all customer requirements on time and in full.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Safety First: Demonstrate the ‘Safety First’ approach at all times. Be proactive with hazard reporting and work with despatch coordinators and FLMs to target Zero Harm.
  2. Adherence to Procedures: Follow instructions, training, procedures, and guidelines set out by the site/department.
  3. Flexibility and Skills Development: Be flexible when moving between tasks such as order picking, decanting, loading, unloading, and product control. Be open to learning and developing new skills.
  4. Performance Targets: Achieve set performance targets, measured by the WMS and other supporting systems.
  5. Personal Development: Drive your personal development by utilising and developing your knowledge and skills, and demonstrating a positive attitude that reflects the Company’s Values.
  6. Site Standards and Audits: Contribute actively to site standards and internal/external audits, maintaining a clean as-you-go approach.
  7. Teamwork: Build and develop effective relationships with other teams to ensure cross-functional working and optimal performance.
The Right Person
  • Experience in warehousing & distribution environments.
  • External FLT licenses are desirable.
  • Proficient with PC and Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player.
  • Good time management, organisation, and communication skills.
  • Conscientious and flexible in approach to work.
