Job summary

Angard Recruitment is recruiting Despatch Control Managers to support Royal Mail’s peak operation at Atherstone Parcel Sort Centre, CV9 1JE, from the end of October. You will report to the Parcel Sort Centre/Optimisation manager and lead transport and distribution operations within the PSC, ensuring safety and compliance while motivating teams on shift.

Candidates should have experience in transport/logistics, strong decision-making, and excellent communication.

Job description

Angard are currently recruiting multiple Despatch Control Managers to support Royal Mail’s peak operation at Atherstone Parcel Sort Centre, CV9 1JE from the end of October.

This position will be reporting to the Parcel Sort Centre/Optimisation manager and responsible for the management of the transport and distribution operations within the Parcel Sort Centre. Responsible for leading and motivating the team to create high performance and commitment. Ensuring work plan is achieved through managing pipeline interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

• Managing transport and distribution operations within the PSC
• Maintaining safe, compliant and legal operations
• Managing despatch bays and vehicle movements
• Ensuring planned network departures and Move-to-Time compliance
• Maximising vehicle utilisation and load fill
• Managing contractor driver attendance and escalation of no-shows
• Monitoring operational performance and implementing corrective actions
• Leading and motivating operational teams on shift

• Supporting delivery of the operational work plan and Peak service commitments

Candidate Profile

Royal Mail is seeking applicants who can operate confidently within a transport and logistics environment and who:

• Have experience of transport, logistics or distribution operations
• Demonstrate strong operational decision-making skills
• Can work independently and take ownership of issues
• Possess excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Are capable of leading operational teams in a fast-paced environment
• Have strong IT literacy and can utilise operational reporting tools
• Understand compliance, safety and operational performance management

Previous experience in transport control, logistics management, despatch operations, network operations or similar supervisory/management environments is highly desirable.

Working Pattern

The requirement is intended to support a 24-hour operation, covering:

• Early Shift
• Late Shift
• Night Shift

Candidates must be flexible and capable of supporting operational requirements throughout the Peak period and we’re flexible to consider different shift patterns including 12hrs etc.

Pay Rates

• Early Shift(Mon-Sun) - £23.00 per hour
• Late Shift (Mon-Sun) - £23.00 per hour
• Night Shift(Mon-Sun) - £27.00 per hour
• Bank Holiday - £33.00 per hour
