Job description

A leading consultancy firm has partnered with a major IT Infrastructure team to hire a Desktop Support Engineer on an initial 6-month contract, based onsite in Rugby. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment delivering hands-on technical support, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring smooth daily IT operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for desktops, laptops, and tablets, including Windows 10 builds and refurbishments.
  • Install and configure OS and applications via SCCM; manage Active Directory and CMDB records.
  • Handle patching, imaging, antivirus, and full device lifecycle support.
  • Troubleshoot O365 and user issues; assist with first-line application installations.
  • Maintain documentation, support audits, and assist with hardware deployment and IT projects.

Skills/Must have:

  • Strong hands-on experience with desktop/laptop support, Windows OS, tablets, and O365 products.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting hardware/software issues and providing remote technical assistance.
  • Working knowledge of device security, antivirus solutions, and endpoint management.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, documentation skills, and customer-oriented communication.
  • Ability to work independently in a client-facing role and contribute effectively within a team environment.
