Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:

RETTEW is seeking a highly motivated Designer with at least 5 years of AutoCAD experience in public utility, electric, gas, sewer and water utility projects to join their Subsurface Utility Engineering Team in the Environmental and Geotechnology Practice. The candidate will assist Team Leads, Project Managers, and technical professionals on existing and upcoming projects primarily within PA, OH, MD and WV. The position can be located in any of our primary PA offices: Lehigh Valley, Lancaster, Mechanicsburg, Williamsport, or Pittsburgh, PA, with in-office work and hybrid options available after six months.

Responsibilities include providing design support for electric, gas, sewer, water, stormwater, waterline, and other utility projects. The ideal candidate will have working design knowledge of linear projects, 811 project design requirements, and utility construction. The candidate will prepare various design documents to support the project teams, including existing conditions surveys, design plans, construction plans, permit plans/exhibits, site restoration design plans, utility crossing exhibits, etc.

Responsibilities

Technical Drafting & Design

- Create detailed drawings on CADD

- Fundamental knowledge of applicable design package(s)

- Perform basic design tasks.

- Perform manual systems drafting

- As applicable, provides input for cost-estimating purposes

- As needed, requests design guidance from senior-level designers, engineers, or project managers

File Management

- Properly file all documents following company and Practice procedures

- Maintain organized project files for current work as well as for archive purposes

Team Support

- Serve as a knowledge resource and trainer for CADD operators

- Perform QA/QC in accordance with company standards

Requirements

- Two-year technical school or associate’s degree, or Bachelor’s degree in a related field

- 5+ years of experience

- General understanding of designing utility and linear projects.

-Familiar with 811 requirements for project designers; familiarity with the ASCE 38-22 SUE process a plus.

- Experience with permit plan preparation is

- Create Plan view, profile, and data bars for sheet layouts

- Experience using Civil 3D design.

-Utility Design

- Knowledge of Vault System in Civil 3D

- Knowledge of earthwork and grading activities (as required).

- Experience with processing, exporting, and importing GPS/survey data.

- Experience with IFA/IFB/IFC drawings a plus

- Microsoft Office software proficient

- GIS experience a plus.
