Job description

What will you do as a Designer?

• Create aspirational woven collections which deliver newness and commerciality across all areas with a strong passion for modern Indian artisan craft.
• Work alongside the Print & Embroidery Designer to deliver modern silhouettes with a unique East print handwriting.
• Trend research and sourcing - Identify and present seasonal trends as appropriate for the East brand including key fashion prints, embroideries, and colours for the season.
• Contribute to new reference material, including industry knowledge and research for the department to use throughout the season.
• Compile strong reference material, including researching catwalk and comp shop trends and compiling mood boards and colour palettes.
• Produce/create design specs and embroidery layouts.
• Take ownership of the collection delivering a balanced and strategic range.
• International travel may be required.
• Assist in the planning of the Critical Path for product areas, ensuring effective communication with suppliers and relevant team members.
• Meet deadlines and follow the critical path.

What will you need to succeed as a Designer?

• Established Junior Designer with a minimum of 5 years experience.
• Passionate and enthusiastic about Indian artisan craft (Block, Tie-Dye, Embroidery, Embellishment).
• Passionate about textiles, colour, and print.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work under own initiative.
• Confident and articulate communicator with the ability to build strong working relationships.
• Ability to deliver to tight timescales and work under pressure.
• A good eye for occasion woven products, soft and structured, with a good understanding of embroidery and embellishments.
• Fabric sourcing ability and good technical skills to develop beautiful products and first samples.
• Confident in presenting collections/concepts and pitching ideas across the team.
• Confident and versatile people skills to influence and persuade the wider team to the vision.
• Ability to demonstrate an understanding of ‘brand handwriting’.
• CAD Skills - Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator.
• Quick and accurate ability to hand sketch designs, with attention to detail.
