Job description

Designated Safeguarding Lead and Family Welfare Officer - Medway

Full-time - 27,711 - 35,233 per annum - September 2025

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Designated Safeguarding Lead and Family Welfare Officer to work across some schools in Medway, including Primary and SEN schools. The role would be on full-time basis and would be on a permanent basis from September.

Role

  • Designated Safeguarding Lead in line with KCSIE and other relevant DSL documentation and guidance
  • Work alongside the Pastoral and Behaviour Lead, SENDCO and FLO to enhance the life opportunities for our children and families
  • To formalise a keyworker/ Quality-of-Life programme for families and lead on relevant training to enhance this offer
  • Ability to build and sustain professional standards and relationships with pupils, parents and staff
  • Ability to contribute towards creating a safe and protective environment
  • Act as liaison with outside agencies for referrals i.e. CAMHS/Social Services representative
  • Make referrals to outside agencies alongside the SENDCO/FLO
  • To act as liaison between home and school for pupil issues. To support teachers with maintaining good home/school relations

Requirements

  • Experience working as a Designed Safeguarding Lead and/or Family Welfare Office
  • School based experience is not essential but must have relevant experience with Safeguarding and liaising with external agencies.
  • Experience working with children with SEN within an education, pastoral, or personal setting would be highly desirable
  • Either have, or be willing to get, an enhanced DBS on the update service.
