Matchtech is working with a key client to recruit for two DPEs to work on a high-profile railway project in Toronto.
These roles will require the successful candidates to relocate to Toronto.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the project manager and team with project documentation, control, job cost accounting, scheduling, and construction supervision. Candidates should be comfortable handling multiple tasks requiring various skills and prioritizing effectively.
Responsibilities
- Implement rail systems and procedures to ensure a cost-effective, high-quality, safe, and environmentally responsible approach to design, commissioning, and other technical activities, complying with all relevant legislation. Liaise with regulators and stakeholders as needed.
- Engineer projects according to client standards and specifications, ensuring compliance with company standards, formal specifications, and procedures.
- Manage engineering activities to deliver schemes that are affordable, meet program requirements, and adhere to safety and environmental standards regarding time, cost, and quality.
- Use relevant techniques such as risk assessment and HAZOP analysis to manage environmental aspects of projects in line with client policies.
- Monitor design and specialist consultants and contractors.
- Provide project management advice on activities including testing, commissioning, and site supervision, ensuring compliance with current legislation.
- Ensure internal and contractor personnel are competent.
- Review design activities and arrange audits to monitor safety, environment, and quality standards.
- Perform duties of the designated project engineer (DPE) for specific projects.
- Share best practices across project teams.
The Ideal Candidate
- Relevant experience in signalling engineering, preferably with involvement in multi-disciplinary design projects.
- Technical qualifications such as HNC/HND or equivalent GNVQ level.
- Knowledge of quality assurance processes.
- Understanding of independent assessment arrangements for work.
- Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or degree-level education.
- Knowledge of structuring safety cases for projects.
- An understanding of environmental issues related to engineering works.
