Job summary

Veritas Education recruitment ltd is seeking an experienced Design Technology Technician for a secondary school in Haringey. The role involves supporting practical lessons, maintaining workshops and ensuring health and safety compliance to enable high‑quality learning experiences.

You will prepare materials, operate machinery, monitor stock and assist both students and staff across Resistant Materials, Product Design and related disciplines.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Design Technology Technician in a secondary school.
• Knowledge of workshop machinery, tools and equipment.
• Experience supporting Resistant Materials, Product Design, Engineering or Construction.
• Strong understanding of health and safety legislation in a workshop.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Proactive, flexible and solution‑focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Preparing materials, tools and equipment for practical lessons.
• Maintaining workshops and specialist teaching spaces.
• Operating and maintaining machinery and technical equipment.
• Supporting students and staff during practical activities as required.
• Monitoring stock levels and ordering materials and resources.
• Carrying out routine maintenance and repairs to equipment.
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Maintaining accurate records of equipment checks and risk assessments.
• Supporting the department with displays, exhibitions and project work.
