Design Technology Technician

Location: Walsall

We are seeking a proactive and well-organised Design & Technology Technician to support the DT department in a secondary school in Walsall. This role is essential in ensuring that practical lessons run smoothly and safely, providing technical and classroom support to both staff and students.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in design, engineering, construction or a similar technical field who enjoys working in an educational environment.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for practical DT lessons
  • Maintain and manage workshop tools, machinery, and stock levels
  • Support teaching staff during lessons and provide guidance to students when required
  • Ensure health and safety standards are followed in all DT activities
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of classroom displays and resources
  • Carry out routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment

Role Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a workshop, technical or school-based environment
  • Good understanding of health and safety practices
  • Strong practical and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A background in design technology, engineering or similar is preferred
