Design Technology (DT) Technician Opportunity in North West London (Brent) - April 2025 start

Are you passionate about Design Technology and eager to support students in a creative learning environment? Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with a dynamic secondary school to recruit a DT Technician for the current academic year. This exciting role begins after Easter break (22nd April 2025), subject to a successful trial day and interview, and runs through to the end of the school year.

Position Details

Role: Design Technology (DT) Technician
Salary: £14-£16 per hour
Hours: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday
Location: Brent, North-West London

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting teachers in preparing and setting up materials for practical lessons and projects.
  • Maintaining the DT workshop, tools, and equipment, ensuring a safe and organised environment.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to students during their design and construction activities.
  • Monitoring and managing stock levels, ordering supplies as needed.
  • Collaborating with staff to create hands-on, engaging activities that inspire creativity.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience as a DT Technician in a school or a related field such as engineering or art.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and 3D printing systems.
  • Experience working with various materials, including polymers, metals, and wood.
  • Familiarity with maintaining and safely using DT tools and equipment.
  • A passion for Design Technology and the ability to inspire creativity in students.

To be successful, you'll need:

  • A design-related degree or relevant experience in a similar role.
  • An enhanced DBS disclosure and professional reference checks.
  • A CV covering the last 10 years of employment history, if applicable.
  • The legal right to work in the UK.
