Job summary

Highlands School in North London is seeking a committed assistant to work with the design and technology department. The successful candidate will help all teaching staff in delivering a relevant and effective design and technology experience, supporting high levels of achievement for students.

The D&T faculty comprises five teachers and two technicians across food and textiles; Chromebooks and visualisers support teaching.

Job description

The successful candidate will be expected to assist all teaching staff in the technology department in ensuring all students have a relevant and effective design and technology experience and high levels of achievement.

The design and technology faculty are a dynamic and experienced team of 5 teachers and 2 technicians; 1 food and 1 textiles, with a passion for encouraging excellence and creativity in all students.

We have well equipped workshops and all teachers are equipped with individual chromebooks and visualisers to support effective teaching. Resistant materials is taught at KS3 on a carousel system with food and textiles. At present design and technology follows the new Edexcel specification and is a popular GCSE options each year. The faculty is committed to ensuring that all staff and support staff have the opportunity to direct their professional development through high quality CPD.

Although well-resourced, the department strives to improve. Drawing on the work of cognitive scientists, curriculum experts and leading figures from within the subject community, the department is about to embark upon a process of curriculum development. It is therefore an exciting time to join, and shape, Highlands School's design and technology department.
