An established Independent School in Islington is seeking a creative and skilled Design & Technology Teacher specialising in Textiles for a permanent, full-time position starting in September. The successful Design & Technology Teacher (Textiles) will inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4 to develop their understanding of textile materials, design, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective Design & Technology Teacher (Textiles) lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Prepare students thoroughly for GCSE Design & Technology with a focus on Textiles.
  • Develop students' understanding of textile properties, construction techniques, and design principles.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback as a Design & Technology Teacher (Textiles).
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Design & Technology curriculum, specifically within Textiles.
  • Maintain a safe and effective textiles workshop environment.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a specialism in Design & Technology, ideally with a focus on Textiles.
  • Proven experience teaching Design & Technology at the secondary level (Key Stages 3 & 4), with experience in Textiles.
  • Strong practical skills in a range of textile techniques (e.g., sewing, printing, pattern cutting).
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to inspire creativity and technical proficiency in Textiles among students.
  • A commitment to collaborative teamwork and a supportive school environment.
