Job description

This school is seeking a passionate and skilled Design and Technology Teacher to join a forward-thinking and well-resourced Technology Department. This is a fantastic opportunity to empower students through hands-on, project-based learning in areas such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, and/or Textiles. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a Design Technology Teacher:

1. Deliver engaging and challenging DT lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5 if applicable)
2. Plan, prepare and assess work in accordance with the national curriculum
3. Promote innovation, problem-solving, and independent thinking
4. Manage a safe and organised workshop or studio environment
5. Support students in coursework and practical projects, especially for GCSE and/or vocational qualifications

Ideal Design Technology Teacher:

1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in DT or a related field
2. Strong subject knowledge in one or more areas of DT (e.g., Product Design, Engineering, Textiles)
3. Excellent classroom management and communication skills as a Design Technology Teacher
4. A commitment to fostering creativity and technical skills
5. A collaborative, reflective approach to teaching
