GSL Education are delighted to present an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Design & Technology (DT) Teacher to join a dynamic secondary school in Portsmouth, Hampshire. This full-time role is set to begin in October 2025, with flexibility depending on the availability of the successful candidate. The position offers the potential for a permanent or fixed-term contract following a successful probation period.

Your Role and Responsibilities as Design & Technology (DT) Teacher:

  • Deliver engaging and practical Design & Technology lessons across key stages, fostering creativity and technical skills.
  • Plan and implement lessons that explore design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor and assess student performance, offering constructive feedback to support their learning journey.
  • Create a classroom where all students feel empowered to express their ideas and develop their skills.
  • Participate in school events and contribute to the wider educational experience.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure consistent and high-quality curriculum delivery.
  • Support student well-being and provide guidance where needed.

What We’re Looking in Design & Technology (DT) Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology.
  • Previous experience teaching D&T at the secondary level is preferred, but ECTs are warmly encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for education and a dedication to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • An up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years with no unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
