Are you a creative and driven Design and Technology Teacher with a passion for hands-on learning? A forward-thinking secondary school in Upminster is seeking a dedicated teacher to join their DT department from September 2025.

This full-time, permanent role is ideal for a newly qualified teacher or an experienced educator who enjoys delivering practical, engaging lessons in a well-resourced setting. You’ll join a supportive team committed to developing students' problem-solving, design, and technical skills. With access to excellent equipment and workshop facilities, you’ll help students explore materials, systems, and design thinking while encouraging innovation and creativity in every lesson.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging DT lessons across KS3 and KS4.

  • Monitor and assess student progress, offering feedback and support.
  • Support the wider DT curriculum through enrichment activities and school events.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment.
  • Contribute to departmental planning and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • QTS and a degree in Design and Technology or a related subject (essential).
  • Suitable for Early Career Teachers and experienced teachers.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Practical knowledge of health and safety in a workshop setting.
  • Passion for technical subjects and creativity in learning.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student well-being.
  • Willingness to contribute to school life beyond the classroom.
