Job summary

Connex Education seeks a qualified Teacher of Design Technology for a full-time position starting in September at a secondary school in Birmingham. The role involves teaching KS3 and KS4 classes, developing engaging lessons in product design and materials. Teacher of Design Technology
Location:Birmingham

About the Role
Connex Education is seeking a qualified Teacher of Design Technology to join a welcoming and forward-thinking secondary school located near Harborne, Birmingham. This is a full-time position starting in September, initially for 1 term.

The successful candidate will teach Design Technology across KS3 and KS4, delivering creative and engaging lessons that inspire pupils in areas such as product design, resistant materials, and other DT disciplines depending on the department’s needs.

This role is open to both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs), provided you have recent, relevant experience teaching DT in UK secondary schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Design Technology lessons for KS3 and KS4

  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback

  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment

  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues in the DT department

Person Specification:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS

  • Recent experience teaching DT in a UK secondary school

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

  • A passion for creative, hands-on learning

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
