A well-resourced secondary school in Barking & Dagenham is on the lookout for a Design and Technology Teacher to join their department from September. This full-time, long-term post is perfect for someone with a strong practical background and a flair for inspiring innovation in the classroom.

The DT department has seen recent investment in both tools and tech, offering an excellent environment to deliver engaging lessons in areas like product design, resistant materials, or graphics. The Role:

  • Deliver practical and theory-based DT lessons, helping students turn concepts into prototypes
  • Encourage learners to experiment with tools, techniques, and materials in a safe, structured setting
  • Guide students through the design process—from research and ideation to production and evaluation
  • Support pupils in completing coursework for GCSE Design & Technology
  • Promote problem-solving, resilience, and sustainability in design thinking
  • Contribute to departmental planning, trips, and school-wide STEM initiatives

Who We're Looking For:

  • A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with a background in Design and Technology
  • Confident in managing a workshop and delivering lessons in line with health and safety standards
  • Skilled in delivering both creative and technical elements of the curriculum
  • Able to connect with students of varying abilities and nurture their potential
  • Up to date with current curriculum trends and industry developments
  • Enthusiastic about helping students see the real-world applications of their learning

What’s in it for You?

  • Competitive weekly pay through PAYE – no umbrella fees
  • Ongoing CPD and access to subject-specific training
  • A responsive consultant who knows the Newham education landscape
  • Long-term prospects within schools that value DT and STEM education
  • The chance to be part of a forward-thinking school with a passion for hands-on learning
