Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Design & Technology Teacher for Ashford & Staines, Surrey, starting September 2026. The role offers full-time permanent and long-term opportunities with a daily rate of £170–£250, dependent on experience and pay scale.

Positions are available across multiple welcoming secondary schools; candidates with passion for practical learning and DT specialisms are encouraged to apply. QTS or equivalent required, enhanced DBS preferred.

Qualifications

  • QTS or equivalent; eligible to teach in the UK.
  • Experience teaching Design & Technology in a secondary school.
  • Strong subject knowledge across Design & Technology disciplines.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Enhanced DBS via Update Service (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

  • Teach Design & Technology to Key Stage 3 and 4 students (KS5 opportunities in some schools).
  • Plan and deliver engaging, practical lessons that inspire creativity and problem solving.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and well managed workshop/classroom environment.
  • Assess, monitor and support student progress.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to a thriving DT department.

Location: Ashford & Staines, Surrey
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time (Permanent and Long-Term opportunities available)
Salary: £170‑£250 per day (depending on experience and pay scale)

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with several welcoming secondary schools across the Ashford and Staines areas who are seeking passionate and dedicated Design & Technology Teachers to join their departments from September 2026.

Whether you're an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT), we'd love to hear from you. Schools are looking for teachers with a passion for practical learning and the ability to deliver engaging lessons across the Design & Technology curriculum. Specialisms such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Textiles, Graphics or Engineering are all welcomed.

The Role
  • Teach Design & Technology to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students (Key Stage 5 opportunities available in some schools).
  • Plan and deliver engaging, practical lessons that inspire creativity and problem‑solving.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and well‑managed workshop/classroom environment.
  • Assess, monitor and support student progress.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to a thriving DT department.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching Design & Technology within a secondary school.
  • Strong subject knowledge across one or more DT specialisms.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Passionate about helping young people achieve their full potential.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
