Job Description

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a designer or technical manager eager to advance their career by joining our team of industry experts. The role involves providing technical and design support for our software and connector product ranges. The Design Office Consultant (Timber Frame Specialism) will deliver first-class technical support for our Gang-Nail and Alpine software suites, including design work, technical support, building code guidance, best practice advice, detailing requirements, and building strong relationships with key customers.

We are seeking a candidate with high-level expertise in Timber Frame, who will become the go-to expert within our team. A good level of experience and knowledge in Truss and Floor design is also required. The role involves supporting our growth plans in Timber Frame, becoming proficient in our iPanel framing software (full training provided), and supporting customer demonstrations, training, and conversions remotely, with occasional travel for face-to-face meetings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with approximately 80 key customers to provide technical and design support, helping them maximize product benefits in line with their manufacturing requirements.
• Become the leading knowledge resource within the company for iPanel Timber Frame software, supporting support and growth initiatives.
• Support customers and colleagues as a Timber Frame expert, and provide support on Truss and Floor design daily.
• Contribute to the development of iPanel software by collecting feedback, analyzing market trends, and exploring regulatory changes.
• Assist in training and upskilling colleagues in timber frame and iPanel knowledge.
• Participate in engineering discussions with Technical, R&D, and Software Development teams to improve our software and products.
• Identify customer support and product trends, utilizing the ITW Customer Back Innovation (CBI) toolbox to enhance our technical services.
• Support the creation of training materials for iPanel, collaborating with the Software Training Developer.
• Review and test internal and customer software releases, providing feedback on new features.
• Contribute content to our technical portal.
• Own personal and professional development to enhance ITWCP product knowledge and industry regulation understanding.
• Apply ITW Toolbox principles and ‘80.20’ methodology for project and time management.
• Ensure health and safety standards are maintained for yourself and colleagues.
• Uphold ITW core principles of integrity, simplicity, trust, respect, and shared risk.

Experience and Skills

• At least 4 years of experience in Timber Frame detailing and design at a UK fabricator.
• At least 2 years of experience with roof and truss design at a UK fabricator.
• Proven ability to read technical drawings, calculations, and specifications.
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
• Experience with Floor, Truss, or Timber Frame design software.
• Strong understanding of building standards, trade guidelines, and regulations related to timber frame construction.
• Deep knowledge of offsite construction practices at a manufacturing level, including truss, joist, and timber frame.
• Experience in customer support or service roles.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to travel regionally up to 20% for meetings and customer visits.
