About the Opportunity

As part of continued growth and investment in technical excellence, we are seeking a Design Technician to join their collaborative Technical Department. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work on technically complex projects, receive extensive training, and become a key contributor to the design and specification of market-leading flat roofing systems.

The Role

Reporting to the Design Technician Supervisor, this position will focus on supporting the business through the creation of technical design drawings, processing technical documentation, and producing a variety of calculations including wind load, thermal, drainage, and photovoltaic system design.

Full training will be provided across all relevant areas, including CAD drawing production, flat roof detailing, drainage design, insulation layout, and solar PV integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce, check and process design drawing requests and supporting technical documentation.
  • Create calculations for wind load, thermal performance, drainage, and solar PV system requirements.
  • Liaise with technical sales teams and clients to clarify requirements and ensure best-fit design outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to documentation development.
  • Support telephone and email-based enquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay up to date with relevant industry standards, codes of practice, and building regulations (e.g. Part L, thermal calculations).
  • Assist in other technical department functions as needed, particularly during busy periods.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Background in construction, architecture or technical roofing design.
  • Basic experience using CAD (essential).
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and technical problem-solving.
  • Good understanding of construction drawings, survey reports, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with waterproofing systems and building fabric (advantageous).
  • Technically minded, logical, analytical and collaborative.
  • Motivated team player with a positive attitude.
