Qualifications

Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

NOV is seeking a Design Technician to join one of our Hydra Rig Business Units in Great Yarmouth.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform drafting activities as required by the Engineering department.
  • Design components for well servicing equipment based on previous examples and general engineering principles.
  • Assist in the research and development of new products.
  • Consult external vendors and internal experts as required.
  • Prepare detailed schematic drawings and process flow diagrams.
  • Ensure effective internal communication among departments for equipment standardization, project coordination, and product information sharing.
  • Participate in technical and sales meetings to assess project feasibility considering overall equipment design.
  • Provide estimates to the Engineering Manager upon completion of drawings and flag any project deadline concerns.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly production and project meetings.
  • Measure and sketch components in shop or field environments.
  • Monitor equipment fabrication to ensure design integrity and suggest improvements.
  • Document job summaries highlighting potential improvements for future projects.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety and environmental standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all company information.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to meet customer expectations and company goals.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Qualification in Mechanical Engineering at any level up to a first degree.
  • Prior experience with SolidWorks is required; experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Experience with energy industry service equipment is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Project management experience and familiarity with PLM and ERP systems are assets.
  • Full UK driving license is preferred.
