Job description

Design Technician - Colchester area - 30,000 - 35,000 depending on experience.

Our client is looking to recruit a Design Technician to support the design of products working alongside their existing team of Design Engineers. The company designs, manufactures and installs equipment used predominantly within the electrical power and distribution industry and are keen to see candidates who have worked ideally within a steel fabrication environment. Projects range in value from 2,000 to 2.2M and consist of noise solutions such as doors, screens and enclosures.

Duties:

  • Produce 2D drawings for client approval and convert into 3D fabrication modelling for in house use and site installation drawings.
  • Drawing preparation, Site documentation collation - risk assessment and method statements and COSHH documents to be prepared by others and put together to form a site pack.
  • Liaise with the Design Engineers to ensure that all projects are supported in terms of drawing completion, site installation packs and post installation O&M manuals, As Built drawings.
  • Occasional travel to sites, clients, sub-contractors and suppliers may be required.

Experience:

  • Qualified to HNC or Degree level in an engineering subject
  • Previous experience working in an engineering design environment using AutoCAD and Solidworks.
  • A good knowledge of practical sheet metal fabrication is preferable.
  • Candidates need to reside within a commutable distance of Colchester and must have driving licence with own transport.
