Job description

A Structural Design Engineer is responsible for the analysis, design, and verification of structural systems for buildings, industrial facilities, infrastructure projects, data centers, and other construction developments, ensuring that structures are safe, economical, durable, and compliant with applicable codes and standards. The role involves preparing structural calculations, design reports, and detailed engineering solutions for reinforced concrete, structural steel, composite, and foundation systems. The Structural Design Engineer works closely with architects, geotechnical engineers, MEP engineers, project managers, contractors, and clients to develop efficient structural designs that meet project requirements while optimizing cost, constructability, and performance. Key responsibilities include performing load calculations, structural analysis, member sizing, connection design, foundation design, and seismic and wind resistance assessments using industry-standard software such as ETABS, STAAD.Pro, SAFE, SAP2000, Revit Structure, and Tekla. The engineer is responsible for preparing and reviewing structural drawings, design calculations, technical specifications, and material quantities, ensuring compliance with international standards such as ACI, AISC, BS, Eurocodes, and local regulatory requirements. The Structural Design Engineer participates in design coordination meetings and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to resolve design conflicts, improve constructability, and support project execution. The role also involves conducting value engineering studies, evaluating alternative design solutions, and recommending cost-effective structural systems without compromising safety or quality. During project execution, the engineer reviews shop drawings, material submittals, fabrication drawings, and construction methodologies to ensure alignment with the approved design intent. The position may require performing structural assessments, condition surveys, retrofitting studies, and technical investigations for existing structures.

Additionally, the Structural Design Engineer supports site teams by addressing design-related queries, reviewing non-conformance reports, and providing technical solutions to construction challenges. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, as the role demands interaction with clients, consultants, authorities, and internal project stakeholders. Candidates typically possess a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, with proficiency in structural analysis and design software and a thorough understanding of engineering principles and construction practices. The Structural Design Engineer contributes significantly to project success by delivering innovative, practical, and code-compliant structural solutions that ensure safety, reliability, efficiency, and long-term performance throughout the lifecycle of the project.
