Job summary

Jersey Electricity plc Energy Services seeks a Design Specialist to deliver practical, low-carbon heating solutions for domestic properties on the Island. You will perform property surveys and develop technical specifications for a range of electric products and services, bridging engineering and customer-facing activities.

You will join a forward-looking team dedicated to making electricity the simplest, most affordable energy choice while ensuring safety, compliance and alignment with Jersey

Qualifications

• Knowledge of domestic heating technologies and their practical application.
• Knowledge of air source heat pump technologies would be advantageous.
• Ability to assess opportunities and support customers in identifying the most appropriate solution and best value for their needs.
• Strong IT literacy and communication skills, demonstrating skill in engaging effectively with customers and clearly presenting sales propositions.
• Experience in developing technical documents, estimates, and quotations would be advantageous.
• Enthusiastic and committed to learning, self-motivated, and results-driven, with a focus on delivering high-quality, customer-focused outcomes within a team environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured and solution-focused approach.
• A full, valid driving license and a willingness to travel throughout the Island as required.

Responsibilities

• Assess and specify heating and electrification solutions for domestic properties, ensuring compliance, efficiency and suitability.
• Conduct desktop assessments and in-home technical surveys, maintaining a professional, inclusive and safety-focused approach.
• Develop tailored system designs and specifications that meet individual customer requirements and performance objectives.
• Ensure proposed solutions deliver efficient installation, strong system performance and cost-effective operation.
• Support the quotation and sales process with accurate technical input and design validation.
• Act as the technical link between sales and delivery teams, ensuring smooth project handover and execution.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date digital records, documenting customer interactions, technical data and follow-up actions.
• Prepare clear, professional written proposals and quotations, presenting technical information in an understandable format.
• Uphold high standards of safety, regulatory compliance, professionalism and environmental responsibility while contributing to team capability and performance.

In this pivotal role, you will support islanders in transitioning to low-carbon heating technologies by undertaking property surveys and developing heating solutions and technical specifications for a range of electric products and services in the domestic market.
