Job summary

Lloyds Banking Group is seeking a Design Researcher on a 12 Month FTC in the UK, with hybrid work arrangements and locations in Edinburgh or Manchester. The role involves leading research strategy within a multi-disciplinary team, guiding product development with evidence-led insights and opportunities discovery.

You’ll manage the research roadmap for your service area, collaborate with design, product and engineering, and communicate findings to senior stakeholders to influence decisions.

Qualifications

  • Experience working closely with design and product teams to identify and prioritise the right research questions.
  • Able to create research roadmaps and plans to keep the team on track, helping set both short-term objectives and strategic direction.
  • Deep qualitative research experience using techniques such as usability testing (moderated and unmoderated), concept testing and depth interviews.
  • Synthesise insights in an impactful and actionable manner to generate a shared understanding of user needs and opportunities.
  • Able to communicate and influence wider business stakeholders with clarity and conciseness, including presenting research findings, recommendations and strategic implications to senior audiences.
  • Experience combining qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Ethnographic experience (contextual enquiry or diary studies).
  • Experience triangulating research and data from different sources to tell compelling customer stories.
  • Experience working collaboratively with Service Design and other disciplines to develop a joined-up understanding of customer and colleague experiences across end-to-end journeys.
  • Able to operate effectively in environments where research practices are still developing, building trust in insights and increasing adoption of evidence-led approaches.
  • Passionate about championing and evangelising the value of Design Research, helping to embed evidence-led decision making and customer-centred thinking across teams and the wider organisation.
  • Experience with accessibility research and/or vulnerable customers.

Responsibilities

JOB TITLE: Design Researcher (12 Month FTC)

LOCATION: Edinburgh or Manchester

HOURS: Full-time

What you'll be doing

Here at Lloyds Banking Group, we value Design Research. We're a large, experienced team of 40+ researchers. We shape product and service development. Everyone has different strengths and passions... maybe you're an expert in accessibility, skilled in quantitative research, or have a solid background in user experience (UX).

We'll encourage you to test and learn new ways of doing research and foster a culture of mentoring, collaborating, and learning from other researchers.

Working in a multi-disciplinary design, product, and engineering team, you'll develop and lead the research strategy for a key area of our business. You'll also be supported by our wider Design Research and Analytics community.

What we’re looking for?
