Job summary

Teespro Recruitment seeks an experienced Design & Project Engineer for a permanent role with an industry specialist delivering offshore cable and SURF protection systems. You will coordinate engineering design, quality, planning, manufacturing, installation and commissioning.

The ideal candidate has an engineering degree, leadership experience, and strong CAD skills (SolidWorks welcome). You will manage budgets, suppliers and client expectations while driving on-time delivery and compliance with

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in engineering field.
• Experience in project planning and cost control.
• CAD modelling and drawings with design analysis; SolidWorks is a plus.
• Experience understanding manufacturing processes (machining and fabrication).
• Strong knowledge of Quality, Environment, Health and Safety standards and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Primary client contact, managing expectations during contract fulfilment.
• Support Engineering Manager to deliver projects from conception to completion on schedule.
• Assist Design and Project Engineers and act as secondary client contact when needed.
• Define client/project specifications, objectives and responsibilities.
• Maintain budget and cost control to support profitability targets.
• Coordinate suppliers/contractors to keep project schedule and resolve issues.
• Evaluate systems/products via testing and studying customer requirements.
• Develop manufacturing processes and equipment for fabrication and installation.
• Prepare data for installation, testing, quality, packing, and weekly reports.
• Support sales with technical analysis of enquiries and prepare technical offers.

Our client is a industry specialist within their field, they provide bespoke solutions for offshore cable and SURF protection systems, taking products from concept through to production.

They are looking for an experienced Design & Project Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis.

Can you coordinate all project elements including engineering design, quality, planning, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning?

The responsibilities of a Design & Project Engineer:

• Primary contact for the client, involving them in the contract execution and managing their expectations during contract fulfilment.
• Assist and Support the Engineering Manager on delivering company projects from initial conception to final completion, ensuring the projects are accurately completed to schedule.
• Support Design and Project Engineers on the delivery of their projects become secondary contact for clients when necessary and ensuring contract fulfilment.
• Determines client and project specifications, objectives, schedule and responsibilities, by reviewing client documentation, identifying customer requirements conferring with the management team.
• Maintain financial diligence through the execution of budget and cost control to help meet projected profitability targets and business results
• Manage suppliers and contractors to maintain project schedule by monitoring progress, coordinating activities and resolving problems.
• Evaluates systems and products by designing and conducting testing programmes and studying customer requirements.
• Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling and installing components.
• Prepares data by collecting, analysing and summarising information for installation, testing, quality, packing, and weekly reports.
• Supports sales with the technical analysis of enquiries, evaluating major enquiries, preparing the technical offer, analysing project specifications and designing the technical solution.

The ideal background of a Design & Project Engineer:

• Degree/HND or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• Experience in a technical role involving project planning and cost control
• Strong knowledge of CAD modelling and drawings with experience in design analysis. (Experience with Solidworks is a plus)
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes including, machining and fabrication as a minimum.
• Must have excellent understanding of Quality, Environment, Health and Safety Standards, with a focus on creating improvement standards that are based on the practices of root cause analysis
