Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Design Production Manager to join their team working in the water sector. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership position and oversee design progress at a Framework level. As Design Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of projects, managing resources, and continuously improving design procedures. This is a full-time permanent position with flexibility for hybrid working.


Responsibilities:
  1. Actively contribute to the Design Leadership Team and collaborate with stakeholders.
  2. Report on design progress at the Framework level.
  3. Oversee resource management across the Framework, ensuring the team is adequately staffed to meet project needs.
  4. Lead the recruitment and onboarding process for design staff.
  5. Assure design team competency and coordinate ongoing training needs.
  6. Ensure competency for specialist outsourced designers and supply chain designers.
  7. Lead the development and improvement of design procedures and own the internal Design Management Audit process.
Qualifications & Skills:
  1. Significant line/team management experience within a Design and Build environment.
  2. Practical experience managing design production, including Earned Value Analysis (CPI/SPI).
  3. Proven track record of successful design delivery, along with experience in procedural and process improvements.
  4. Strong experience in profiling resource demand and managing the recruitment and onboarding of design staff.
  5. A positive, results-driven, flexible approach with the ability to influence and motivate others.
  6. A team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  7. IT proficiency, including MS Office, advanced Excel, Teams, SharePoint (ProjectWise experience is desirable but not essential).
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
  9. Educated to Degree level in an engineering discipline.
  10. Experience in Joint Ventures (preferred).
  11. Water sector experience, with a good understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes.
  12. Familiarity with BIM and digital delivery practices.
  13. A full UK driving licence.
