Job Description:

As a Design Manager, you will lead teams in delivering multidisciplinary water utilities projects from concept through detailed design and construction, primarily in the West of England and Wales region.

About the Role

You will typically lead civil engineering and/or multidisciplinary teams, supporting and mentoring junior engineers to:

  • Create feasibility studies, outline, and detailed designs for water utilities projects
  • Produce calculations and reports supporting those designs
  • Engage directly with clients to understand needs and develop solutions
  • Develop business cases and proposals for project funding
  • Collaborate with construction partners to enhance safety and construction processes
  • Ensure designs consider buildability, sustainability, H&S, and environmental standards

About You

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with a relevant institution
  • Experience in the water sector is not essential; transferable technical skills are valued
  • Support and mentor junior engineers toward achieving Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated team player
  • Driven to deliver sustainable water and environmental solutions
