Job description

Binnies, an RSK Group company, is seeking a Design Manager to join our Consultancy team on water projects. We welcome applicants with experience ranging from recently Chartered/Incorporated to Principal level.

As a Design Manager, you will leverage your experience with multi-disciplinary projects from concept through design and construction, leading teams in delivering consultancy projects. You will primarily work within the Water Utilities team in the West of England and Wales regions.

About the Role

You will typically lead civil engineering and/or multi-disciplinary teams, mentoring junior engineers to:

  • Create feasibility studies, and outline and detailed designs for water utilities projects,
  • Produce calculations and reports to support those designs,
  • Engage directly with clients to understand needs and develop solutions,
  • Develop business cases and proposals for project funding,
  • Collaborate with construction partners to improve safety and understand construction processes,
  • Ensure designs consider buildability, sustainability, health & safety, and environmental requirements.

About You

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with a relevant institution.
  • Experience in the water sector is not mandatory; transferable technical skills are valued.
  • Enthusiasm to support and mentor junior engineers towards Chartered or Incorporated status.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated team player.
  • Commitment to delivering sustainable water and environmental solutions.
