Binnies an RSK Group company is looking for Design Manager to work within our Consultancy team on water projects. We are seeking applicants with a range of experience from recently Incorporated/Chartered up to Principal level.

As a Design Manager, you will have the opportunity to use your experience of multi-disciplinary projects from concept, through outline and detailed design and construction, to lead teams in the delivery of consultancy projects. You will have the opportunity to be a part of the Water Utilities team working primarily in the West of England and Wales region.

About the Role

Typically, you will lead civil engineering and/or multi-disciplinary teams and support and mentor more junior engineers to achieve the following:

  • create feasibility studies, outline and detailed designs for a variety of multi-disciplinary water utilities projects,
  • produce calculations and reports to support those designs,
  • work directly with clients to understand their needs and develop solutions to their problems,
  • produce business cases and proposals to enable our clients to fund their projects,
  • work with our construction partners to improve safety of designs and understand and improve the construction process,
  • ensure our designs take account of buildability, sustainability, H&S and environmental requirements.

About You

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with a relevant institution.
  • Previous experience in the water sector is not essential, we would look for technical skills transferrable to an engineering manager role in the water sector.
  • Desire to support and mentor more junior engineers towards achieving Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Self-motivated and effective team player.
  • A drive to deliver sustainable solutions in the water and environment industries.
