Job summary

Stantec Inc. is seeking a Design Manager based in either Brighton or Southampton to lead water projects from initial concept to detailed design. The successful candidate will foster collaboration and innovation within a multidisciplinary team, managing complex projects and overseeing their technical delivery.

Strong technical expertise in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Process engineering is required, along with a preferred chartered status. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement that supports work-life balance and inclusivity.

Job description

As a Design Manager, you won’t just be drawing up plans; you’ll be leading them – shaping impactful water projects from initial concept to detailed design, fostering an environment where new ideas are welcomed and collaborating with major clients across the UK.

Responsibilities

• Lead a talented team to deliver impactful water projects, from initial concept to detailed design.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative environment where new ideas are welcomed.
• Oversee all aspects of design delivery, including design & build projects, detailed design delivery and owners engineer services, requiring complex multi‑disciplinary collaboration both internally and externally.
• Plan and lead the technical delivery of projects, collaborating closely with clients and guiding your multidisciplinary team every step of the way.

Qualifications

• Experienced engineer with strong technical expertise in Civils, Mechanical, Electrical, Process or any other relevant discipline.
• Chartered status with a relevant engineering institution is preferred; support can be provided to achieve this.
• Demonstrable experience leading and managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing multiple projects and stakeholders.
• Previous experience on major projects is highly desirable.

This role is based from our offices in Brighton or Southampton. Hybrid working allows for a great work‑life balance.
