Hamilton Barnes is seeking a Lead Data Center Design Engineer to own the multi-discipline design process for a major UK campus. You will partner with external consultants, general contractors and internal engineering specialists to deliver end-to-end design from concept through construction, supporting a gigawatt-scale development program over many years.

The role requires on-site presence in Northumberland for four days a week or relocation, with focus on high-density facilities and regulatory

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Design Manager or similar on large construction projects.
• Experience in data centres or mission-critical facilities.
• Strong understanding of building services from concept to construction.
• Experience coordinating consultants, designers and contractors.
• Ability to be on site 4 days per week in Northumberland or willing to relocate.
• Strong stakeholder communication skills.
• MEP background preferred but not essential.

Responsabilités

• Lead and manage the design process for data centre buildings and supporting infrastructure on the campus.
• Coordinate and manage external designers and consultants, ensuring designs meet standards, programme and budget.
• Run design reviews and manage design change, technical queries and value engineering.
• Act as the link between design teams, construction teams, operations and internal specialists.
• Ensure designs meet quality, safety and regulatory requirements and can be built and operated efficiently.
• Track design progress and risks across a multi-phase, long-term development and report to senior stakeholders.

The organization is seeking a Lead Data Center Design Engineer to take ownership of the multi-discipline design process for a major UK campus.Managing end-to-end delivery from concept through construction,the successful candidate will partner with external consultants,general contractors,and internal engineering specialists to execute high-density facilities.This role offers long-term ownership over a gigawatt-scale development program spanning more than a decade.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the design process for data centre buildings and supporting infrastructure on the campus
• Coordinate and manage external designers and consultants, making sure designs meet standards, programme and budget
• Run design reviews and manage design change, technical queries and value engineering
• Act as the link between design teams, construction teams, operations and internal specialists
• Make sure designs meet quality, safety and regulatory requirements and can be built and operated efficiently
• Track design progress and risks across a multi phase, long term development and report to senior stakeholders

Skills/Must have:

• Proven experience as a Design Manager, or in a comparable design or technical management role, on large scale construction projects
• Experience in data centres, mission critical facilities or other complex industrial or infrastructure environments
• Strong understanding of building services and the design process from concept through to detailed design and construction
• Experience managing and coordinating consultants, designers and contractors
• Ability to be on site 4 days per week in Northumberland, or willingness to relocate
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• MEP background preferred, though not essential
