Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for a Design Manager to work with Energy on the Western Isles Project, based out of Glasgow with regular travel to Inverness and the Highlands sites, minimum of 3 days a week.

Lead the engineering design delivery for major HV 132/275/400kV substation projects, integrating multiple disciplines and managing tender/ECI stages. Ensure CDM 2015 compliance and coordinate with internal/external teams to deliver quality design information.

Qualifications

• Experience managing multi-disciplinary design packages.
• Experience as Principal Designer Representative under CDM 2015.
• Experience delivering substation projects for UK Transmission Service Operators (SSEN, National Grid, Scottish Power Energy Networks, NIE Networks).
• Membership of a UK Engineering institute.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering design delivery of major Transmission HV 132/275/400kV substation projects.
• Lead Design Management at tender/ECI stage and allocate resources.
• Integrate HV Plant, Protection and Control, and Civils from internal and external teams.
• Act as Principal Design Representative ensuring design information is managed per CDM 2015 requirements.
• Contribute to continual process improvement within the Business Unit and Group Design Management.
• Review design pack submissions for technical compliance, quality and completeness.
• Monitor procurement issues and liaise with the Procurement function.
• Coordinate with Temporary Works Coordinators and Designers on constructability and permanent works.
• Ensure compliance with Standards and Client requirements, and monitor warranties and liabilities.
• Review consultant payment applications and coordinate with the contract surveyor.
