Job Description

A private equity-backed Tier 2 civils contractor is seeking a Design Manager to join their Preconstruction team. The company has a strong portfolio of secure frameworks in the Rail and Highways sectors, typically undertaking projects in the sub-£100M range.

This role offers a hybrid working model, allowing for four days of remote work and one day in the office each week. As a Design Manager, you will be part of the Preconstruction team, overseeing the design process across projects within the rail portfolio. Your responsibilities include coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, liaising with stakeholders, managing design timelines and budgets, handling risks and changes, preparing design documentation, and providing technical guidance to the design team.

Candidate requirements:

  • A degree or equivalent in civil engineering or construction
  • Knowledge of construction and civil engineering works; site experience is highly desirable
  • Experience in design management during the preconstruction phase, preferably within the rail sector
  • Experience with NEC3/4 contracts, managing change and risk
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Offer: Salary between £55,000 - £60,000 per annum, with benefits including a car allowance, private healthcare, pension, life assurance, 25 days of annual leave, and a birthday day off.
