Our client is a well-established metal fabrication and welding manufacturing company based in Liverpool, recruiting a Manufacturing Design Manager.
Description
Responsible for all new & existing product design activities, generating quotes, drawings/models & structural assessments (FEA). Provide technical support for customer enquiries as well as the interface between commercial and operational delivery internally.
- Lead and develop the technical team in the design and development of enclosures and housings.
- Support the commercial function with technical input for customer or technical enquiries.
- Be the main point of contact for design queries for clients or internal team members.
- Lead the technical design process for new and existing products, including CAD drawings.
- Identify & deliver cost savings through value engineering without compromising quality, designing new products for manufacturing to optimize costs.
- Manage the company's technical database, ensuring all products have up-to-date and accurate technical drawings.
- Facilitate the alteration and renewal of drawings as required.
- Manage project timelines, visualising workload and planning accordingly to meet expectations.
- Utilise Simulation (FEA) to ensure products are not over-engineered but maintain integrity & quality.
- Research new technologies/ideas for innovation and market leadership.
- Create standard ranges of product streams in assembly and sub-assembly formats for modular quoting and customization.
- Identify suppliers for new materials or components, ensuring quality and price requirements.
- Use the Group CRM system to capture customer interactions.
- Liaise with operational teams to ensure product design for manufacture aligns with expectations.
- Work with manufacturing and assembly departments to provide advice and problem-solving support.
- Prepare purchase orders and coordinate with procurement for material delivery.
Profile
- Fully experienced in 3D CAD design (Solidworks/Autocad).
- Understanding of multi-material manufacturing technologies, processes, and installation, with exposure to metal fabrication and welding.
- Good understanding of manufacturing capabilities and limitations.
- Effective communication skills with stakeholders, customers, and suppliers.
- Innovative thinker with solution-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Highly organized with attention to detail and multitasking ability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office packages including SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint.
Job Offer
£50,000 to £55,000 plus car allowance and benefits.
