Job Summary for Design Manager

We are seeking an experienced curtain wall, window and door designer to work alongside an existing design team. You will work on commercial projects throughout the Southeast, ranging from Tier 1 to local contractors.

This is a hybrid working model with travel to their Dover office needed at least once or twice per week. You will work Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Responsibilities for Design Manager

1. Oversee the design process for new build commercial glazing projects.
2. Review project specifications and prepare a design scope for the CAD technicians.
3. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to achieve design, operational and cost objectives, whilst maintaining regulatory compliance.
4. Produce high end technical drawings and AutoCAD design proposals.
5. Identify, manage and resolve design risks.
6. Deal with technical queries from client through to site installation.
7. Handover to project managers for ordering but maintain technical oversight of the project.

Key Skill Requirements for Design Manager

1. Experience in a similar role working on new build commercial projects.
2. Experience of working on projects up to 2m in value.
3. Proven industry experience and a good understanding of the building regulations and BS standards relating to the design and workings of window, door, and curtain-walling systems.
4. Excellent knowledge of curtain walling, windows, doors and glazing systems.
5. Ability to overcome technical challenges.
6. A good understanding of the design implications on the site installation.
7. A good eye for detail and accuracy.
8. Ability to confidently read and understand technical drawings.
9. Ability to work diligently alone and within a well-established design team.
10. Understanding of the commercial aspects of the business (lead times, costs).
