Job description

An opportunity to be part of the core team, delivering various projects as part of a large Framework across the South West region

This Design Manager role will be pivotal in the immobilisation of this new Framework and will be a key member with your primary role to lead projects through their design phases.

Key Duties:

  1. Be committed to excellence in Health & Safety (H&S) in design, complying fully with relevant local specifications, codes, rules, regulations and requirements and all relevant H&S legislation.
  2. Ensure that H&S hazards are identified and managed, and that all residual risks are communicated effectively to all stakeholders.
  3. Lead the Design team in delivering their responsibilities and ensure a focused approach to meet customer requirements and project objectives.
  4. Be accountable for expenditure, drive efficiency, and manage overall outturn costs for design by producing design deliverables within allocated resource hours and key dates.
  5. Organise all elements of design, document it in the Design Management Plan, and prepare monthly status update reports as necessary.
  6. Attend and contribute to all relevant programme, project, and technical meetings.

In order to be considered for this Design Manager role, candidates should have:

  • Extensive experience in multi-disciplinary design management within a design-build environment.
  • A degree in an engineering-related discipline.
  • APM Project Fundamentals Qualification.
  • Delivery-driven mindset with the ability to set targets and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Strategic, operational, technical, and management skills.
  • Good general knowledge of all aspects of water treatment, including related processes, civil, and MEICA engineering aspects.
  • Knowledge of BIM procedures and techniques.
