Design Manager - Construction
York
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Construction Design Manager to join an established and growing main contractor establishing a new office in York. This role is ideal for someone with significant experience in a main contractor environment working on schemes between £2 million and £15 million.

The Role:
You will be responsible for managing the design elements of projects from inception to completion. You will work closely with internal and external teams to ensure project delivery aligns with specifications, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Managing the design process throughout all project stages, ensuring compliance with building regulations and planning requirements.
  2. Collaborating with project teams to drive efficient design solutions.
  3. Leading design meetings with key stakeholders.
  4. Identifying and mitigating risk throughout the design and construction phases.
  5. Liaising with consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project success.
  6. Assisting with the selection of consultants and subcontractors.

Requirements:

  1. Excellent Communication Skills.
  2. Experience of working in a construction contractor environment.
  3. Strong commercial acumen and ability to assess cost-effective design solutions.
  4. Background in construction across new build and refurbishment schemes.
  5. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  6. Full UK driving licence.
