The Opportunity: Architect Design Manager - Data Centres Portfolio

We're looking for an experienced Architect Design Manager to play a key role on our mission-critical Data Centres programme, based from our Manchester hub. At Laing O'Rourke, Design Managers are technical leaders-ensuring robust, high-quality design delivery across every phase of the project lifecycle.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead consultant teams to deliver smart, integrated design solutions that meet client needs and optimise value.
  • Champion design quality, buildability, and technical suitability across all stages-from feasibility to handover.
  • Drive collaboration across disciplines using BIM and Digital Engineering tools.
  • Ensure design complies with all contractual, safety, and performance standards.
  • Embed continuous improvement by capturing and sharing knowledge across the Engineering Enterprise.
We're Looking For:
  • A qualified Architect or construction design professional with approx. 5 years' end-to-end design management experience.
  • Proven background across different sectors and procurement routes.
  • Expertise in DfMA, managing consultants, and change control.
  • A leader who's passionate about innovation, quality, and collaboration.
