Job summary

Amentum in the UK is recruiting a Design Manager to lead the SZC SSW replication deliverables under the SZC SSW Team Lead. The role is hands-on, delivering outputs to meet quality, time and cost requirements while shaping the operational and strategic direction.

You will schedule complex deliverables, highlight risks, and apply your structural engineering experience to identify opportunities and interface with diverse stakeholders across the project.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Experience designing structural steelwork buildings to Eurocodes.
• Proven track record in complex self-delivery environments.
• Ability to present complex topics to stakeholders.
• Knowledge of CDM 2015 requirements.

Responsibilities

• Enact the operational and strategic vision for SZC SSW replication.
• Self-delivery of production and issuing deliverables to quality, time and cost.
• Schedule and program deliverables and flag risks to the programme.
• Identify opportunities/gaps in SZC replication processes.
• Interface with other disciplines and the wider project stakeholder network.
• Communicate complex topics to the stakeholder network.
• Ensure training needs and personal competency assessments are maintained.

Job description

• Enactment of the operational and strategic vision needed for successful delivery of the SZC SSW replication under the direction of the SZC SSW Team Lead
• A 'hands-on' self-delivery role in the production and issuing of the various deliverables within their scope to dictated requirements of quality, time and cost
• The accurate scheduling and programming of deliverables, and in highlighting key risks to the same
• Applying their knowledge of the developing SZC replication processes that apply to the SSW scope in the identification of opportunities/gaps that require further development
• Using their existing technical knowledge and operational experience to identify and flag up areas of commercial and strategic importance
• Identifying key interfaces with other disciplines and the wider project stakeholder network, and the nature of such interfaces
• Presenting and communicating complex topics to the wider stakeholder network.
• Ensuring that any training needs are adequately identified and met, that they are competent for the role, and that their personal competency assessment is kept up to date and valid
  An engineering degree in a relevant subject i.e. Civil or Structural Engineering. Related disciplines such as Mechanical Engineering may be considered subject to proof of relevant design experience
• Experience in the design of structural steelwork buildings to relevant national standards (ideally Eurocodes)
• Proven experience in a complex self-delivery environment
• The ability to make independent decisions which are supported by a sound and reasonable situational analysis
• Demonstrable experience in both operational planning, and in working to achieve the success of such plans i.e. a track record of success in operational delivery of suitable outcomes
• Confidence when presenting to an experienced and wide-ranging stakeholder group, and in communicating key topics and their operational impact with respect to the perspectives of these stakeholders
• A working knowledge of the requirements of CDM 2015
