Qualifications

• Experience in design management within construction or property consultancy.
• Strong project management experience.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
• Relevant degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering or related.
• Membership of CIOB, RIBA, RICS or APS encouraged.
• NEBOSH Construction or IOSH qualifications advantageous.
• Strong communication, organisation and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the design process from pre-construction through to completion.
• Review design information and identify technical or programme risks.
• Chair design team meetings and monitor actions.
• Support project management activities, including programmes and stakeholder coordination.
• Ensure projects meet Building Regulations and CDM requirements.
• Work with Principal Designers to manage design risk.
• Liaise with clients and provide clear technical advice throughout the lifecycle.

A well-established construction and property consultancy is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Design Manager with a strong technical background who also has experience in project management and CDM.

The successful Design Manager will work across a varied portfolio of construction projects, coordinating design teams from the early stages through to delivery. Working closely with clients, consultants and contractors, the Design Manager will help ensure that designs are coordinated, buildable, compliant and delivered in line with programme requirements.

The Design Manager’s Role

The Design Manager will take responsibility for managing the design process across multiple projects, acting as a key point of contact between clients, architects, engineers and contractors.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing and coordinating the design process from pre-construction through to completion
• Reviewing design information and identifying technical or programme risks
• Chairing design team meetings and monitoring design actions
• Supporting project management activities, including programmes, reporting and stakeholder coordination
• Ensuring projects meet relevant Building Regulations and CDM requirements
• Working closely with Principal Designers and project teams to manage design risk
• Liaising with clients and providing clear technical advice throughout the project lifecycle

The Design Manager

The successful Design Manager will ideally have:

• Previous Design Management experience within construction or property consultancy
• Strong project management experience
• Good working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams
• A relevant degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline
• Membership of, or progress towards, a relevant professional body such as CIOB, RIBA, RICS or APS
• NEBOSH Construction, IOSH or another relevant health and safety qualification would be advantageous
• Strong communication, organisation and client-facing skills
