Job Title: Design Manager

Business Unit: UK Construction

Reporting To: Divisional Design Manager

Office Location: Reading

Project Location: Thames Valley Corridor

Construction South is part of the UK Construction business and includes the Wales and West, and the South East. Projects on average range between £5 - £50 million and are primarily based in the Public Sector with some projects in the Private Sector. Sectors include Leisure, Justice, Defence, Education, Health and Commercial offices.

Role
  • Appraise and ensure BREEAM obligation.
  • Generate contractors’ proposals for submission.
  • Set design deliverables for each consultant and CDP contractor and schedule drawings, specifications and other design information required for construction.
  • For D&B identify and agree drawings/samples for Client satisfaction and produce a programme of critical dates for Client approvals.
  • Monitor and report on design progress, statutory approvals, outstanding information required, subcontractor design, environmental/CDM issues.
  • Review design information at tender and construction and report on Value Engineering Construction, Statutory compliance Contract Coordination
Skills & Experience
  • Strong industry experience from either an architectural or project management background. Must have experience of a similar role on a project in excess of £5m.
  • Experience of both design and build and traditional contracting.
  • Ability to communicate positively and effectively.
  • Technical and design skills.
  • Understanding of design and construct process.
