Our client, a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy providing high-quality services across various sectors, is actively seeking a Design Manager to join their expanding team. With a strong presence in healthcare and residential projects, they deliver schemes valued between £5m and £20m. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a skilled and motivated Design Manager to join their team in Newcastle. Candidates from various backgrounds are encouraged to apply, including Building Surveying, Architecture, and Project Management.

Role Overview

As a Design Manager, you will oversee and coordinate the design process across healthcare and residential projects. You will ensure design solutions are delivered efficiently, within budget, and to high standards. The role involves close collaboration with clients, contractors, and internal teams to meet project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the design development process from concept to completion, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including architects, engineers, and consultants
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to align design objectives with project requirements
• Ensure designs meet regulatory requirements, including planning and building regulations
• Monitor project timelines, budgets, and risks, and implement mitigation strategies
• Provide technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle
• Conduct design reviews and lead coordination meetings for smooth project progression
• Collaborate with commercial and construction teams to integrate design solutions into project delivery

Candidate Requirements

• Background in Architecture, Project Management, or Building Surveying
• Experience in residential or healthcare schemes is advantageous
• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lead and coordinate a team
• Knowledge of UK building regulations, planning policies, and industry standards
• Residence within a commutable distance of Newcastle
