As MWH Treatment embarks on its new journey as one of Northumbrian Water’s (NWL) capital delivery partners (part of NWL’s new Living Water Enterprise Organisation), we are looking to strengthen our Engineering team with a Principal Civil Engineer. Based predominantly in the Essex & Suffolk region, you will report directly to the Regional Discipline Lead - Civil or the Senior Design Manager. This role will necessitate traveling to other MWH regions initially to embed and support your career within the MWH Treatment culture.
Our programme of work, across a variety of water and wastewater schemes, is expected to be in the region of £280M.

Key responsibilities:
- Be committed to excellence in Health & Safety (H&S) in design, complying fully with relevant local specifications, codes, rules, regulations, and requirements, and all relevant H&S legislation.
- Ensure that H&S hazards are identified and managed and that all residual risks are communicated effectively to all stakeholders.
- Lead the Design team in delivering their responsibilities and ensure a focused approach to meet customer requirements and project objectives.
- Be accountable for expenditure, drive efficiency, and manage overall outturn costs for design by producing design deliverables within the allocated resource hours and by key dates.
- Organise all elements of design, document it in the Design Management Plan, and prepare monthly status update reports as necessary.
- Attend and contribute to all relevant programme, project, and technical meetings.
- Ensure that the technical solution is produced to outperform on costs, whilst maintaining quality standards and delivery on time.
- Provide technical support during construction, assembly, and commissioning stages where required.
- Ensure all technical work adheres to the correct standards and specifications, following appropriate systems of work and quality assurance.
- Contribute to achieving sustainability targets, particularly by reducing embodied and operational Carbon Footprints of solutions.
- Communicate and work effectively with people from other partner organisations, backgrounds, and disciplines, utilising their knowledge and experience, and add to this with your own experience and know-how.
- Recognise and provide exceptional customer service both internally and with partners and externally with the client, their customers, and the general public.
- Represent the entire MWH business and RSK Group of companies in all client contacts and promote the MWH / RSK reputation.
- Maintain a positive and solution-oriented approach to work, providing open and honest feedback.
- Undertake such other duties, training, and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, consistent with the responsibilities of this role.
- Present a professional and positive image of MWH Treatment, both internally and externally, and maintain mutually constructive, positive, and beneficial relationships.
