An opportunity for a capable and practical Design Manager to take the lead on complex D&B projects across education, leisure, residential, and public-sector schemes in London and the South East.
You'll be based at the company's head office in Caterham, reporting to an Operations Director or Project Lead, and working closely with site teams, consultants, and client representatives. Projects typically range from £5m£20m and include heritage refurbishments, heavy cut & carve, and new build community facilities.
The Role
• Office-based Design Manager role supporting D&B delivery across multiple sectors
• Managing design coordination from pre-construction through delivery
• Working with external consultants, internal teams, and specialist subcontractors
• Supporting buildability reviews, design risk management, and compliance
• Projects include schools, leisure centres, retail refurbishments, and residential blocks
What they're looking for
• 5+ years' experience in a Design Manager or D&B Coordinator role for a main contractor
• Background in complex refurbishments, cut & carve, or public-sector buildings
• Strong knowledge of buildability, design compliance, and delivery programmes
• Confident leading design meetings and coordinating consultant teams
• Not from an architectural practice this is a delivery-focused role
