Job description

Join a business that truly values its people and is known for putting employee wellbeing and professional growth at the heart of everything it does.

This Design Manager opportunity offers the chance to step into a thriving, low-turnover environment where your work will directly contribute to some of the most exciting and innovative projects happening in the region. With a strong pipeline of work and an expanding portfolio, my client is growing - and they’re looking for a talented Design Manager to grow with them.

This Design Manager role offers the chance to lead and coordinate design across a variety of high-profile projects -ranging from education, residential to commercial and laboratory developments - typically between £10m and £50m. You’ll work across both tender and delivery stages, with opportunities to shape bid strategies, challenge briefs, and drive innovation through all RIBA stages.

It’s a role for someone who enjoys making a genuine impact: collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring sustainability standards are met, and developing efficient and effective design solutions that reflect best practice.

This is a standout opportunity for someone with experience in the main contracting sector, particularly those who have worked on two-stage design and build projects. If you enjoy leading consultant teams, are comfortable with BIM and low carbon design strategies, and thrive in a site and office-based environment, this is a role that will give you the space to develop and influence. Above all, it suits someone who enjoys working collaboratively in a team that shares a passion for excellence and delivering quality projects.

What’s in it for you? Quite a lot:

  • Competitive package including company car/car allowance

  • 26 days’ holiday (rising to 30 with service), plus bank holidays & option to buy additional

  • Private healthcare and enhanced family leave

  • Sharesave and incentive schemes, plus high street discounts

My client is a major name in UK construction, well-respected for their approach to quality, sustainability, and long-term partnerships. They are selective about the work they take on, which means you'll be joining a team focused on meaningful projects and long-term client relationships.

They pride themselves on building careers, not just filling jobs - and that’s reflected in their low staff turnover and high employee satisfaction.

If you’re ready to take the next step in your career and want to be part of a supportive, driven team working on exciting projects across Cambridge and beyond, apply today.
